Peter Jackson was born in St Croix, not in Jamaica, but his family came from Monetgo Bay; in the local papers in the 1890s he was frequently referred to as Jamaican. He was such an outstanding person, as well as an outstanding boxer, who might well have been a world champion - if he had not been Black - that his links with Jamaica deserve to be celebrated.
